and finally 9-3 to Grossmont.

The fresh face of Coyote baseball
Cerro Coso had a large turnover from last season, leaving just four
sophomores to lead a group into what should promise to be a very
competitive season.
Coach Dick Adams, back at the helm for the 18th year, said the Foothill
Conference will be exceptionally tough this year, with no push overs, as
has been the case in past years.
This year will also mark a milestone for Adams, who will manage his
700th game. So long as there aren’t any game cancelations, the milestone
will be reached on Feb. 27 in the first half of a home doubleheader
against San Bernardino Valley College.

Sostarich’s bat, glove salvage Cerro Coso split in Oxnard
After suffering through an 11-run loss in game one against Oxnard,
Cerro Coso rallied in the second half of a doubleheader, clinging to a
two-run lead in the seventh and final inning.
And with a diving catch, Mykol Sostarich helped the Coyotes to earn a
split, winning 6-5.
Oxnard plated a run in the bottom of the seventh to make the game 6-5
and had bases loaded with two outs in the inning, when lead off hitter
was jammed on a 3-2 pitch that floated into the no-man’s land between
the infield and center field.

7-minute stretch sinks Coyotes against Barstow
After a lackluster first half, Cerro Coso seemed to have things
rolling against Barstow, pulling to within two points with 7:30 left on
the clock in the second half.
But that’s when Barstow went on a 19-0 scoring run to end the Coyotes’
hopes of a comeback, ultimately winning 55-34.
“He did a great job subbing,” said Cerro Coso coach Tom Heck of his
Barstow counterpart Tim Woods. “He just had more folks to come in.”
