Assistant Coach Jason Ruiz
Cerro Coso College is pleased to announce the hiring of Jason Ruiz as
the new Assistant Baseball Coach. Jason joins the Coyote coaching staff
after spending the last three years as an assistant for Southern Utah
University. He will coach the infielders/outfielders and share the
hitters. Additionally, Jason who hales form Las Vegas will be an
integral part of the Coyote recruiting.
Ruiz played two seasons at SUU where he was a first team
all-Mid-Continent Conference selection and the league batting champion
in 2004 as he hit .398, hitting safely in 38 of 49 games. He finished
his career as a .329 hitter and is tied for eighth all-time at SUU in
doubles (25) and walks (52), t-ninth in hits (122) and t-10th in stolen
bases (23).
Ruiz, was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII second
team selection in 2004. He has a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice
with a minor in Psychology from SUU.
“We are excited to hire this young, energetic, intelligent young man. He
will fit nicely into our Cerro Coso family” says Dick Adams, Athletic
Director.
