Coso Suffers a Rough Loss to #1 San Bernardino

Cerro Coso Athletic Department

The Cerro Coso Women's Basketball team played an outstanding first half against the Number 1 team in the state of California – the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines.

Cerro Coso only trailed by 3 points with 1:47 to go in the half before the wolves forced two turnovers on their full court pressure resulting in a score of 35-26 at the half.

However the second half proved too much for the outmanned Coyotes as the Wolves outscored the Coyotes 20 – 4 in the first six minutes using full court pressure. The Coyotes played without their only sophomore, Celia Acevado, who has been sick. Coach Heck praised the great effort of Stephanie Hoskins who had to play 38 minutes, bringing the ball up the floor under great duress. LaTasha Trainor led the team in scoring with 13. Hoskins and Cheyenne Begay added 11 each.

San Bernardino (22-1) went on to an 81-49 victory. "We had kids playing sick and we just ran out of gas as San Bernardino pressed us for 36 minutes; It was a great effort," stated Coach Heck.
