Cerro Coso Picks up Road Win

Cerro Coso Athletic Department

The Cerro Coso Women's Basketball team defeated College of the Desert on Wednesday night 65-48 in Palm Desert. The Coyotes got off to a slow start, shooting only 22% from the field in the first half but with a strong second half opened up a large lead early in that half. The game was tied 25-25 at the halftime and Cerro Coso switched over to their triangle and two defense which caused problems for the Roadrunners. "In the first half they had several players who were hurting us so we decided to try and take them out of the mix and tonight it worked for us," said Coach Tom Heck.

Cerro Coso also used full court pressure to pick up some key steals early in the second half to get some separation. "The first half was a crawl so we were able to speed thing up in the second half and that really helped us," Heck added.

Stephanie Hoskins lead all scorers with 26 points and added 11 rebounds. Celia Acevado had the hot hand in the second half and scored 14 points. Kristin Arthur had 10 points and 8 rebounds, LaTasha Trainor added 12 rebounds. The Coyotes now 10-12 (5-7) don't play again until next Wednesday when they travel to Barstow.
