Breaking a nine-game losing streak, the Cerro Coso Coyotes defeated the
Victor Valley College Rams Thursday afternoon in Victorville, winning

in Riverside, as they battled with Riverside City College. The game was
a tightly-played affair, with the Coyotes ending up on the short end of

The Cerro Coso Coyotes baseball team began a crucial series with the
Chaffey College Panthers Thursday at the Dawg Yard, and got the series
started right with a 12-6 win over the Panthers.
Aside from a fluky six-run Chaffey fifth inning in which the Coyotes
committed two errors and were the victims of bad bounces, the previously
undefeated Panthers were held off the scoreboard.

The Cerro Coso Coyotes like playing Foothill Conference Saturday
doubleheaders.
Cerro Coso swept its second twinbill in two weeks Saturday, taking the
nightcap of a doubleheader at the Dawg Yard with a 19-11 win over
Barstow.
"The score looks like a blowout, but the game was a war," said Coyotes
Head Coach Dick Adams.

The Cerro Coso Coyotes avenged a disappointing 10-7 loss to the Barstow
College Vikings Thursday with a 17-4 rout of the Vikings in the first
game of a Saturday doubleheader at the Dawg Yard.
The Coyotes sent sophomore lefty Matt Smith to the mound in search of
his second win of the year. It was a successful outing for the lefty,
who struck out five and allowed only one hit and no earned runs in a

The Cerro Coso Coyotes baseball team fell to 2-2 in Foothill Conference
play Thursday in Barstow with a 10-7 loss to the Barstow College
Vikings.
The Achilles' heel for the Coyotes (2-2 Foothill) in the game was the
seven-run Barstow second inning off starter Adam Garner. Just as in last
week's Thursday game against College of the Desert, the Coyotes found
themselves far behind early in the game, but were unable to recover.

The past few days have been a roller coaster ride for the Cerro Coso
Coyotes baseball team.
On Saturday, the Coyotes celebrated a successful sweep of the College of
the Desert Roadrunners, but received devastating news Tuesday with word
that pitching ace Caleb Gallagher is lost for the season due to a

Conference standings Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of the College
of the Desert Roadrunners at Palm Desert.

Nobody ever accused Foothill Conference baseball of being predictable.
Such was the case at the Dawg Yard Thursday afternoon, as the College of
the Desert Roadrunners and Cerro Coso Coyotes battled back and forth
through all nine innings, with the Roadrunners pulling out a 12-11 win.

schedule Friday and Saturday at the Dawg Yard with a three-game series
with Golden West College. The Rustlers took the upper hand in the series
with victories Friday night and Saturday afternoon in the first two

After a 3-4 road trip to begin the season, the Cerro Coso Coyotes
baseball team will open its 2005 home schedule this afternoon at the
Dawg Yard with a doubleheader against the Golden West College Rustlers.
The two teams will play an afternoon matinee Saturday at noon. Foothill
Conference play is right around the corner, and the Dawgs will open the
conference part of their schedule Thursday at home against the College
of the Desert Roadrunners, beginning at 2 p.m.

With the majority of college baseball games in Southern California
washed out due to rain this weekend, the Cerro Coso Coyotes were left
scrambling for a place to play. Fortunately, the College of the Sequoias
had an available field and a team ready to play, so the two squads
battled in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. Cerro Coso won the
first game 10-8, but dropped the Sunday contests 5-4 in 11 innings and
4-3 in seven innings.

With rain forcing the cancellation of a weekend tournament in San Luis
Obispo, the Cerro Coso Coyotes traveled to Los Angeles Tuesday for a
makeup game with L.A. City College. The game was a success all around
for the Coyotes, who earned an 8-0 win.

The Cerro Coso baseball team opened its 2005 season this weekend with
three games in the Western States Tournament.
On Thursday, the Dawgs began the year on a down note, losing 3-2 to
Moorpark College.
Caleb Gallagher, the sophomore who is expected to be Cerro Coso's ace
this season, started and pitched well, allowing two runs, neither of
which were earned, and striking out six in six innings.

years played a significant financial role towards the building of our
press box, snack bar, batting cages, and purchase of the scoreboard.

According to Coyotes Head Baseball Coach Dick Adams, who organized the
camp, 27 young baseball players from around the area assembled to learn
the fundamentals of the game from Coyotes players and coaches.
