Coso falls short of playoffs
By Nathan Ahle, The Daily Independent
Despite a third-place finish in the Foothill Conference and a 23-13
overall record, the Cerro Coso Coyotes baseball team was left out of the
Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics baseball
playoffs, set to begin this week.
The Coyotes' season came to an end after a vote of coaches held Monday
morning. Bakersfield College, the third-place team out of the Western
States Conference, received the berth the Coyotes were aiming for, a
14th-seed that would face Santa Ana Saturday.
Despite falling short of the playoffs, Coyotes Head Coach Dick Adams
commented that he was extremely pleased with the team's effort this
season, especially considering the fact that the Coyotes were uncertain
about the program's future heading into the season and that the team was
unable to begin recruiting until late in the typical recruiting process.
The team will celebrate their 2004 campaign with an awards dinner
Tuesday evening.
