The Cerro Coso Coyotes baseball team spent its week off last week working out at the Dawg Yard and playing the waiting game.

The wait is over, and the Dawgs have learned that they will take the fifth seed in the eight-team Foothill Conference Tournament, thanks to their 12-12 record in conference play, and will play all three games in the round-robin tournament on the road.

This afternoon, the Coyotes will travel to Rancho Cucamonga and face the Chaffey College Panthers, the second-place team in the conference with a 19-5 record in Foothill play. The Coyotes will then face San Bernardino Valley College on Thursday in San Bernardino, and will travel to Palm Desert on Saturday to face the College of the Desert Roadrunners.

In other tournament action, Antelope Valley will travel to top-seeded Rio Hondo, Desert will play San Bernardino, and Victor Valley will play Mt. San Jacinto in today's action.

The winner of the tournament will earn a berth in the state college playoffs, while Rio Hondo has earned a spot thanks to their first-place regular season.

Cerro Coso won Foothill Conference championships and last made the state playoffs in 1999 and 2000.
