Coso baseball team hires former player as assistant coach

Cerro Coso College is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Bassett as
the new Assistant Baseball Coach. Bassett is a 1994 graduate of Cerro
Coso and was a two-year letterman on the baseball team, then in its
infancy.
While playing baseball for Cerro Coso, Bassett was named to several
coveted awards: 1993 Team Captain, 1994 Most Valuable Player, Big Stick
Award -.435, and 1st team all Southern California Athletic
Conference-First base.
After graduation, Coach Bassett returned to work as a Graduate Assistant
Coach for the 1995 season. He received a scholarship to Southern
Colorado University where he played two seasons of baseball and came
away with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education.
Bassett's new duties at Cerro Coso include teaching as an Adjunct
Instructor in the Physical Education Dept. and assisting Head Coach Dick
Adams with the baseball team.
"Wow, what a catch!" said Coach Adams, who also serves as P.E.
Department chair and Athletic Director. "Paul is not only an excellent
coach but a fine young adult. We could not be any more pleased with
Paul's decision to join our staff."
