Cerro Coso head baseball coach Dick Adams announced Monday he is taking
a leave of absence, citing on going health problems.
“I don’t feel physically fit to coach and to do what is needed to do to
coach,” Adams said.
That includes actively recruiting for next year.
“I just don’t have the energy to recruit,” Adams said.
On an interim basis, assistant coach Billy Montgomery will assume the
head coaching duties. Montgomery is a former Cerro Coso baseball player
who started assisting duties this season.

Luck just wasn’t on

Saturday, as two bad
breaks lead to a
first-ever sweep at the
hands of Victor Valley
College.
A bad bounce and
aggressive base running
on a ball hit in the
infield led to two game
winning runs for the
Rams who in turn handed
Cerro Coso its worst
record in school
history.

Panthers sweep Cerro Coso
Cerro Coso will officially finish with a losing record after
suffering a doubleheader sweep against Chaffey over the weekend.
Thanks to 12-2 and 7-2 losses, the Coyotes fall to 14-18 overall (8-13
in Foothill Conference play) with three games left on the schedule.

Coyotes rally, but Chaffey pulls out game in ninth
Cerro Coso managed to rally for six runs in the ninth inning, only to
watch as Foothill Conference leading Chaffey came away with a game
winning hit to drop the first of a three-game series 9-8 on Thursday.
While coach Dick Adams was disappointed the team couldn’t pull off the
win, he was proud of the players for fighting hard through the end of
the game.

San Jacinto beats up on Coyote pitching to earn series sweep
Cerro Coso’s playoff
hopes dwindled over the
weekend, suffering a
doubleheader sweep at
the hands of Mt. San
Jacinto College, who won
all three games of the
series.
The Coyotes’ pitching
weren’t able to contain
San Jac’s potent
offense, which leads the
conference with a .362
batting average.
The Eagles used big
innings in both games to
blow by Cerro Coso 10-3
and 11-6.

Wind, 10th inning hit lead to pair of Coyote wins
Cerro Coso pushed its record back above .500 this week with a pair of
non-conference wins.
On Tuesday, Coyote outfielders played lights out defense, leading to a
17-11 win over Pasadena.
Then on Thursday, Coso out dueled West Hills to the tune of 6-5 in 10
innings.
Perry Martin ended the game with a single with two men on.
