Chris O’Brien begins his first year as an assistant baseball coach for
Cerro Coso Community College. Chris comes from Las Vegas Nevada where he
was a 1997 graduate of El Dorado HS. Chris O’Brien began is collegiate
playing career at Cerro Coso where he was a catcher in 1998 and 1999. As
a sophomore he helped lead the Coyotes to their first ever Foothill
Conference Championship. Hitting at a .347/.467 batting average, O’B was
named to the All-conference 2nd team. After graduating with his AA
degree Chris transferred to New Mexico Highlands University and earned
all Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors. Chris O’Brien helped the
2001 Cowboys to a 41-18 record, ranked 17th in 2002, their first ever
birth in the NCAA Western Region tournament, San Antonio, Texas.
Chris O’Brien brings a fresh approach to our staff. He works well
with the players and cooperates nicely with Coach Adams. “We are very
excited about Coach O’Brien being a member of our coaching staff. He has
always been a winner” says Coach Adams. Coach O’Brian’s duties will be
to work with the catchers and hitters. He will be setting the team
defense in games as well as coaching third base. O’Brien will also be
assisting with recruiting and field work.
Chris is single and resides in Ridgecrest.
