COYOTES LOSE: Michael Longmire (34)
and his Cerro Coso teammates dropped a 54-53 decision to the San
Bernardino Valley College Indians Wednesday night in San Bernardino.
Longmire had seven points in the loss, which drops the Coyotes to
3-9 in Foothill Conference play, with a 10-19 overall mark. |
Wednesday night saw the Cerro Coso Coyotes travel south to face the
San Bernardino Valley College Indians in the two teams' only conference
schedule meeting of the year. Cerro Coso and San Bernardino came into
the game as the top two defensive teams in the conference, and this was
reflected in the 54-53 San Bernardino win.
After taking a 53-52 lead in the final two minutes behind two Karl
Williams free-throws, the Coyotes appeared to be in position to pull off
a major upset of the first-place Indians. San Bernardino scored to take
a 54-53 lead, but 1:30 remained. The SBVC defense clamped down, however,
and both teams were held off the scoreboard until the final buzzer.
