Girls' B-ball camp a success
By Nathan Ahle, The Daily Independent
Cerro Coso Community College played host to dozens of local girls this
week for the college's annual girls' basketball camp.
Led by Lady Coyotes Head Coach Tom Heck, and with the help of Cerro Coso
players who served as counselors, the youth received training and
instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling,
passing, shooting, defense, and other skills.
The campers scrimmaged against each other and against the counselors to
test the skills they learned.
Heck said that about 25 young people participated in the event.
The camp was held as a fund-raiser for the Coyote basketball team. Other
fund-raisers included a boys' camp in July and a high school girls'
tournament.
