The Raymond A. McCue Activities Complex will again be full of the sights and sounds of women's college basketball Dec. 29 and 30, as the second annual Cerro Coso New Year's Tournament comes to Ridgecrest.

Four teams will participate in this year's event: the Cerro Coso Lady Coyotes will be joined by squads from L.A. Pierce College, Citrus College and North Seattle Community College.

L.A. Pierce battles in the Western States Conference and is led by Head Coach Jim Couch. The Brahma Bulls will face Cerro Coso in the first game of the tournament at 5 p.m. on Dec. 29. At 7 p.m., Citrus College will take on North Seattle Community College.

Citrus is another Western States Conference school, led by coach Ken Guttman. The Lady Owls currently have a record of 8-6.

North Seattle Community College makes the trip from Washington led by head coach Sara Wetstone. NSCC went 13-3 last season and is a perennial playoff team.

On Dec. 30, the consolation game of the tournament will be played at 1 p.m., with the championship game of the tournament scheduled for 3 p.m. A Most Valuable Player award will be presented after the championship game, as well as the All-Tournament Team.

The Daily Independent will provide full coverage of the tournament next week.
