The Cerro Coso Community College women's basketball team will have a decidedly local flavor to it next season, as the top three scorers from last season's Burroughs High School girls' varsity team have announced plans to stay in town and play for the Coyotes.

Brenda Cantrell, Brittany Graybill and Ebonee Moses have agreed to play for Head Coach Tom Heck, marking the first major influx of BHS players in Heck's tenure at Cerro Coso. Local players have played at the college before, but Cantrell, Graybill and Moses are expected to step in right away and make an impact.

Graybill, a four-year varsity athlete at Burroughs under coach Kurt Menard, will especially be welcomed on a team that had difficulty with height and rebounding issues last season. A six-foot post player, Graybill led BHS in scoring last season with 258 points and averaged 9.6 rebounds per game.

Cantrell was also a four-year standout at the varsity level. She scored over 200 points last season and led the team in three-pointers with 31, averaging 9.2 points per game.

Moses scored 127 points in 2004-05, a 6.0-per game average, and will be a valuable guard to complement Cantrell and returning Coyote sophomore Stephanie Hart.

Heck said that the three new players will be counted on immediately, and is excited that local athletes are recognizing that Cerro Coso is a viable option for athletes who want to continue to play while attending college.
