The Cerro Coso Coyotes women’s basketball team opened its season
Saturday night, routing Life Pacific College 82-40 in San Dimas.
Dar’Shelle Lynch, a freshman guard from Las Vegas, led the Coyotes (1-0)
in scoring with 28 points, and also added six steals.
Freshman Paris Allen contributed with 21 points and five steals.
Post player Mariah Bomberry was also in double digits with 15 points,
and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the squad.
Angel Lash (six points, nine rebounds), Stephanie Hart (four points,
five steals), Ebonee Moses, and Brittany Graybill (two points each) also
contributed.
“We played unselfishly today, and did a good job of learning to execute
our plays,” said Coyotes Head Coach Tom Heck. “We’re young and we’ll
make mistakes, but if we learn to keep our poise, we’ll constantly
improve.”
Coach Heck added that he was still concerned about “aches and pains,”
with two players, Christy Marshall and Brenda Cantrell, currently out of
action.
Cerro Coso will play again Saturday at LA Harbor College in San Pedro.
