A tenacious full court press was the difference for Cerro Coso in a 68-53 win over San Bernardino Valley Monday night, on the heels of a 61-60 win Saturday against Chaffey.

The Lady Coyotes (18-6, 7-3 Foothill Conference) couldn’t seem to find the hole in the first half Monday, going four minutes before scoring their first field goal.

Dar’Shelle Lynch made certain Coso didn’t fall too far behind, though, scoring 16 of the Coyotes’ 27 points through 20 minutes.

Coming out of the lockerroom trailing 29-27, Coso applied a full court pressure that rendered SBVC’s offense helpless.

Angel Lash capitalized, en route to 17 points.

The Lady Coyotes’ defense also forced SBVC into poor shot selection, which equaled rebounds for Coso.

Lash had a game-high 13 boards, while Paris Allen snagged 12 to go with her 12 points.

Five-foot-four point guard Stephanie Hart went to the glass to the tune of 10 rebounds, combined with 10 points to give Coso its third double-double of the night.

The win was the Lady Coyotes’ second in three days, with Coso escaping 61-60 Saturday against Chaffey College.

Allen tipped a missed Lynch jumpshot out to Hart with ten seconds remaining, and Coso trailing 60-59.

Hart sank the jumpshot to put the Coyotes ahead and propel them to their sixth conference win.

Lash had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while fellow forward Mariah Bomberry produced 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Coso led by five, before spotting Chaffey a late 8-0 run.

“With our depth problems,” said head coach Tom Heck, “we have to find ways to stay in games.”

The Coyotes head down the home stretch Wednesday when they travel to Mt. San Jacinto.
