Local basketball teams earned first place in their respective divisions
at this weekend's Cerro Coso girls tournament.
Burroughs varsity went 7-0 en route to the large school championship.
“We played better than we have all summer,” said BHS head coach Robert
Campbell.
BHS topped Desert 41-29. Krystle Depue scored 12 points to lead the
Burros.
Campbell said he was pleased with his team's offensive consistency,
particular that of Depue, Donna Bell and Katie Veit.
In other games, Burroughs routed Little Rock, Arvin and Rosamond.
Campbell said his team's turnaround since the last time it faced Arvin
at the Cal-State Bakersfield camp last month was a positive.
BHS also came away with a 25-23 victory over Lancaster.
High Desert, a club team including several players from Immanuel
Christian School, went 7-0 on the weekend.
The Rebels beat the Phoenix Stars club team out of Arizona in the
championship game.
The tournament, a fundraiser for Coso's women's basketball program, was
well attended said tournament director and CCCC head coach Tom Heck.
