The Cerro Coso Lady Coyotes basketball team dropped their Foothill
Conference opener 61-48 to Chaffey Tuesday night in Rancho Cucamonga.
The seventh-ranked Chaffey squad was helped by poor shooting from the
Coyotes, who missed their first 11 shots of the night.
Cerro Coso had a rough night from the free-throw line, converting on
only 12 of 33 attempts from the line.
“After watching Chaffey lose to Mt. SAC, I knew we had to slow things
down and not get into a track meet,” said CCCC coach Tom Heck. “Chaffey
got frustrated and fouled us, but we couldn’t hit from the line.”
Angel Lash and Darashelle Lynch led Cerro Coso with 12 points each,
while Ashley Logan and Lynette Dineyazhe added six apiece.
Brittany Graybill picked up five points and seven rebounds.
“We executed well against their pressure and man defense,” said Heck.
“We just need to find a way for more folks to score for us.”
Lilly Parks led Chaffey in scoring with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Coyotes competed in the L.A. Pierce tournament this weekend.
