Not able to respond to the pressure by Rio Hondo, the Cerro Coso women's
basketball team lost 71-59 on Wednesday.
“We were just a bit out manned,” said coach Tom Heck. “They just wore us
out. They pressed for 40 minutes and they shot well.”
The Lady Coyotes turned the ball over 25 times and shot 2-21 from the
3-point line and around 33 percent from the free throw line.
Heck said the players started getting a little frustrated down the
stretch with the referees and were called for three technical fouls,
more than has been called in the past three years combined.
That was compounded with a 47 percent shooting by Rio Hondo from the
line.
“They shot very well, I have to give them credit,” Heck said.
Heck also was pleased with the effort from LaShonda Jones, who came off
the bench and played hard.
The Coyotes will remain on the road for a game against Life Pacific
College on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m.
