Cerro Coso to hold HS tourney

The Cerro Coso College women’s basketball program will hold its annual
summer high school girls basketball tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Coyote basketball coach and tournament director Tom Heck said this
year’s event features 16 teams with a large school and small school
division.
Local participants include the Burroughs varsity and junior varsity
teams and Immanuel Christian School.
Other team participating are North Bakersfield, Arvin, Desert, Mojave,
Lancaster, Lee Vining, Rosamond, Carl Hayden from Phoenix and Basic High
School from Las Vegas. Many of the schools will also have their JV teams
in the tournament.
Play starts on Friday at 4:30 p.m. with both Burroughs teams in action.
A fill slate of games is scheduled for Saturday starting at 8:40 a.m.
Championship games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Friday’s games will be played at Cerro Coso with Saturday games being
played at the college and Burroughs.
Admission is $2 per person per day.
Concessions are also available at the college. All proceeds benefit the
women’s basketball program.
