Players from across the High Desert and beyond came together Saturday
to take part in the Cerro Coso Summer Tournament.
Nine teams turned out for the two-day affair, starting with practice
rounds on Friday and continuing through Saturday morning.
Two of the teams joined forces to even out the bracket. Teams included
squads from Burroughs, Barstow, Rosamond, Littlerock High School and
Beatty High School.
The Lady Aztecs went on to win 55-30 to claim the title. The Rosamond
‘A’ team took third, defeating Littlerock. Burroughs, after losing in
the opening round to Rosamond, went on to sweep the consolation bracket,
emerging as the consolation champions.

Telia Johnson, playing for Rosamond's 'B' team is chased down by five
Big Pine player as she makes a fast break toward the basket in the
play-in game for the Cerro Coso Tournament. Members from both the Big
Pine and Rosamond 'B' teams joined forces to play the rest of the way.

Littlerock High School's Santana Alford makes a lay up against Beatty in
the first round of the Cerro Coso tournament. The Lady Lobos went on to
win by 40 points to advance to play Barstow who beat Rosamond by a
similar score.
