The Cerro Coso Women’s baseball team dropped a 49-43 decision to San
Diego City College on Saturday in San Diego.
The Coyotes trailed 24-17 at the half and rallied to take several leads
in the second.
The game was tied at 39 with five minutes to go in the game before City
was able to hit several big shots down the stretch. The second half saw
the game tied seven times, and the out-manned Coyotes with seven
players, finally wore down in the final moments.
Coso used a 1-3-1 defense and did a fair job on the boards against the
much larger Lady Comet team.
“We played fairly well, our defense kept us in the game,” said coach Tom
Heck. “We actually executed well on the offensive end, but we just
struggle to score, despite some very (good) shot selections.”
Coso shot 15-65, including 1-12 from beyond the arc, along with
struggling from the free throw line (12-24).
Shardae Moore led the team in scoring with 15. Sieddah ‘ added 11.
The Coyotes are now 2-6 (0-1) and hit the road on Tuesday for a six-game
swing in Northern California.
